Wow, I have missed this. And all of you.
This is truly such a confusing time for me and whenever that happens I find myself grasping for ways to make sense of things. The only way I really know how is to make something. If you’re anything like me, you’re overwhelmed and tired. since the election, since you were born, whatever. I am so tired, y’all. When I’m tired like this, though , I’ve learned the importance of making things. To sit wholly in who you are and BE that. especially now. So if you’re like me…if you’re tired, get back up. Make something with your hands. Be who you are. Be kind, be strong, and pour everything you are into it. And when you’re done, have the courage to share it. Not for recognition or praise but because you must. Because there’s someone like you who doesn’t know what to do, who’s tired, who needs to feel that someone is listening. That making things matters. And it does, friends, it matters.
This piece is one I worked on a while ago when I was trying to step out of my black and white comfort zone. I used water color, colored pencils and ink.
