The Long Road

It’s funny how you can go over a scenario so many times in your head that you’re sure you know exactly how it will go and exactly how you’ll feel. It never turns out the way you expect it to. Ever.

I quit my job after 8 years. It’s not really something I’d planned on posting about but it’s weighed much heavier on my mind than I anticipated. My time there and my leaving there can’t be easily summed up or explained. Without going into too much detail, I will say that as I look back over the whole experience I count it as positive. It was a good place to grow up and to learn. I’ve seen many faces come and go over the years and have learned something I carry with me from nearly all of them. I expected a whole range of emotions but I didn’t expect to feel so much relief. I’m sad to have left but ready to see who I am without it. It’s nice to be the person in the room who knows all the answers, but it’s so much better to be the one asking for new answers instead of staying static. And so… An era has ended. But a new one is beginning and I’m excited to learn and grow and live.

This week’s art post is a continuation of the last post. For those who haven’t read that, it explains my love for the game Journey which inspired the fan art that I made. This week I added ink and some grays to finish it up.

Music friends: the title refers to a song by one of my top five favorite bands, Tiger Army. I’m kind of a lyric junkie and these ones are beautiful. You can find the band and this song on all major music platforms. You will not regret it.
