Hello friends! Another Sunday is here. The time has come for some pretty cool announcements!
So let’s talk Digital Lizards of Doom.
DLOD is a band based here in San Diego that is tailor made for the nerd at heart. If you love comics, music, super heroes, dancing, guitars, story telling, giant lizards from space, evil robots or basically anything awesome then this is for you.
My favorite bands have always been ones that can take you somewhere totally different. Growing up wasn’t always easy. Finding a place to belong was more important to me than anything. I ached for a place that felt like home. For people that felt like my people. I found that in punk rock as a teenager and again now with this band. Digital Lizards of Doom feels less like a show where things seem unapproachable and temporary and more like a universe and family all it’s own. A place to belong. A home for nerds like us aching for a landing place. It is my absolute privilege to count frontman Gabriel as one of my best friends. So yes, maybe I’m a little biased but I believe in what he is trying to do here so strongly. So as far as announcements… It’s my true honor to be able to play a unique part of the DLOD experience in that I have spent this past year illustrating a graphic novel based on characters seen in the live shows. Right now that’s really all I can share but I can not wait to share more details with you all. To learn more about the band and a little more about the comic you can check out their podcast live for Meltdown Comics. In edition to a little talk about the book, the First episode features an interview with the legendary Mike Towry, cofounder of SD comic con. It also includes a review of comic anthology Restless Minds which includes one of my pieces about overcoming anxiety.
Music friends: the title of this post refers to a song by DLOD off of the Pretty Spooky Pop EP which is available on iTunes now!
Thank you always for following and please check back here each Sunday for more updates and announcements !
