As a general rule I try to stay present in the moment, but I spent a lot of this week looking back. I wanted to reflect on where I’ve come from and the experiences that have made me who I am today…so that’s exactly what I did. I revisited sketches I’d forgotten about, I listened to music I haven’t played in a long time and pondered on people and friendships I’d left behind. Sometimes it was great and sometimes it was hard to remember but I think all of that combines to make us who we are. When you’re a creative person you hope that all of those experiences come together to make things that connect with other people who can maybe relate to something you went through. So, as I sit here watching the red carpet show for the Oscar’s with my cat , posting this I can say that looking back has made me so thankful for the present and so hopeful for the future. If I have built this life for myself so far, I look forward to seeing what I build from here. So, in honor of looking back, I’ve included some pictures of some of my old drawings to share with you all rather than sharing the inks I’ve been doing recently.
As always, I’m so thankful to you all for following and I will see you here next Sunday!
Music friends: the title of this post refers to a song called “The Weight of Living Part 1” by Bastille who I absolutely adore. If you haven’t already, definitely purchase their album “Bad Blood”. This song was so perfect for a trip down memory lane.
